BANGI, April 4 — The free Covid-19 community screening will be carried out in the same location if there is a sharp increase of new coronavirus cases in the area, says Selcare.
Its Community Screening coordinator Abdul Hadri Hakimi Abdul Rahman said among the focus areas are the Damansara sub-district and Petaling district.
“This has been planned out and it also depends on the conclusion from the study conducted by the Selangor Task Force for Covid-19,” he said when met during the screening operation held at the Section 7 Multipurpose Hall in Bandar Baru Bangi, here today.
Abdul Hadri said over 10,000 individuals are expected to be tested for Covid-19 before the Ramadan month based on the weekly screening operations that were held.
“Today we had carried out two programmes, one in Bangi and the other in Ampang, and the total participants reached almost 10,000. Therefore, with four more programmes held next week, the figure will be more,” he added.
Meanwhile, Abdul Hadri said it has yet to be decided whether the screening initiative will be continued during the fasting month as people may be occupied with terawih prayers or there may be a low turn out.
The Selangor government has provided a total RM6 million allocation for the free community screening initiative to curb the Covid-19 infection in the state.
The programme aims to see 50,000 people in Selangor be screened, focusing on densely populated areas and those under the low-income group.
