SHAH ALAM, June 30 — Registration for the first Selangor Internet Scheme for Middle Income Group (M40) called the SISM40 will start tomorrow (July 1).

The initiative is implemented in collaboration with Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) through the unifi service in which the state government subsidies internet usage specifically to the Selangor’s residents who fall under the M40 group.

Through the scheme, eight types of data subsidies will be offered via three packages namely family package; singles package and basic package.

Each household will enjoy RM10 and RM30 worth of subsidies every month for a year if they subscribe to one of eight packages offered in the scheme.

In a media statement issued by the Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI, Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the initiative is very much needed in order to implement digitalisation as well as to help the people to survive during the tough times.

“The state government has collaborated with Telekom Malaysia (TM) to introduce SISM40 as part of the efforts to help the people who need to live with the new norm in the digital era.

“We are aware that the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted the people’s income and previously, the state government has launched several initiatives to help those in the B40 group. However, we realised that those in the M40 group are also affected,” he said.

The state government also collaborates with 56 constituencies’ offices all over the state to ensure that those who are entitled to get the benefit from this scheme are included.

For further details on the registration process and eligibility, visit https://www.sism40.com.my/ or call 03-5030 4595/4596 (Monday – Friday, 9am to 5pm) except on public holidays.
