PETALING JAYA, July 1 — Over 50,000 companies have registered to procure vaccines through the Selangor Vaccination Programme (Selvax) initiative for the industrial sector (Selvax Industry).

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said as of June 16, this involves more than two million workers registered under the programme.

”That is why we are confident to expedite the inoculation process in the state to achieve herd immunity.

”This effort is not only from the state government but also from the companies and factories that want to address this issue and fight Covid-19 together,” he said at a press conference after a visit to the Selvax vaccination centre at Tropicana Garden Mall Selvax, here yesterday

The location is one of six mega PPVs provided by the state government apart from Evo Mall, Bangi; Kompleks Sukan PKNS, Kelana Jaya; De Palma Hotel; Shah Alam and Aurora Mall, Bukit Jalil.

Selangor has provided two million doses of vaccines to one million workers in the state, including foreign workers, as part of the effort to curb the spread of Covid-19 at workplaces.

The initiative through Selvax Industry is only open to companies and it is not sold to individuals. The initiative is to complement the National Covid-19 Immunisation Program (PICK).

Among the major companies taking part in the initiative include 99 Speed Mart, Ernst & Young, Telekom Malaysia, Touch n Go and property developer companies such as EcoWorld and Tropicana.
