Anwar to defend presidency in PKR polls

KUALA LUMPUR, April 11 — Port Dickson Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be defending his president’s post in PKR’s elections for the 2022/2025 term.

A statement from the Office of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he had submitted his nomination to defend the post through the party’s Adil application at 12.14 pm today.

Anwar, 75, won the PKR presidency unopposed in the party’s polls for the 2018/2021 term in November 2018.

The party’s elections this time will be held in hybrid form, that is in person voting and online voting via the Adil application that was introduced by PKR on February 28 this year.

Nominations for divisional level posts opened on April 8 and ended yesterday (Sunday).

The deadline for nominations for the six top level posts in the party, namely president, deputy president and four vice presidents, and for top posts in Angkatan Muda Keadilan (Youth wing) and Wanita (Women’s wing) is today.

In person voting will be held from May 13 to 17 while online voting from May 18 to 20.
