SHAH ALAM, Aug 22 — The Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre (STDC) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Singaporean company FESTO Pte. Ltd and the Technical University of Munich (TUM) on developing the field of education, especially automation.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said he is confident the memorandum’s signing will drive the state further to build more world-class partnerships.

“I am confident that the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding today between STDC, TUM and FESTO, will not only be a milestone to be celebrated for Selangor and STDC, but will hopefully culminate into a Center of Excellence (CoE),” he said in a Facebook post.

Adding that he had an opportunity to visit TUM prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, Amirudin said the potential CoE will function as a platform for the technology transfer between companies and a technical and vocational education and training institution.

“The CoE will be able to produce an industry-ready workforce in Malaysia and hopefully the Asean region,” he said.
