SABAK BERNAM, May 13 — The Pusat Smart Desa in two Sabak Bernam localities will serve as a pilot project for the development of rural residents, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He said the education centres in Kampung Sungai Air Tawar and in Kampung Endah will benefit local residents, particularly school students.
Utilising a derelict building that underwent upgrade works, it can be used for organising additional classes as well as an Internet centre.
“Each project costs RM200,000, which was issued by the Federal government but managed by the state government. It comes at a fairly minimal cost but is greatly beneficial to the needs of the local populace.
“Smart Selangor sponsors the Internet network for users, and we are cooperating with various other agencies including the Selangor Public Library Corporation, to provide additional benefits,” Amirudin said.
He was speaking at the launch of Pusat Smart Desa at Kampung Sungai Air Tawar, and in conjunction with the village’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations yesterday.
Also in attendance was the state executive councillor for traditional villages Borhan Aman Shah and Sungai Air state assemblyman Datuk Rizam Ismail.
Amirudin said Pusat Smart Desa will help rural residents remain in line with current modern developments.
“Our hope is to ensure all residents will not be left behind by the currents of modernisation, something that we must collectively work to achieve. We want the process to continue for the benefit of all,” he said.
