Khazanah Nasional urges joint effort in clean energy agenda

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 12 — The clean energy agenda requires joint effort from all stakeholders to attract more investments into Malaysia, said Khazanah Nasional Bhd.

Its managing director Datuk Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir said policy enhancement could work hand-in-hand with private-sector-driven solutions to crowd in investments into the four key focus areas identified in the Community Report, which is part of the World Economic Forum’s Mobilising Investment for Clean Energy in Emerging Economies initiative.

“The four key focus areas for investment for Malaysia are solar and storage, coal retirement projects, transmission and distribution, and carbon capture, utilisation and storage.

“The overarching aim should be to support the nation’s net-zero targets while accelerating the deployment of renewable energy and enabling the progress of initiatives announced under various policies and the recent National Energy Transition Roadmap,” said Amirul in a statement today, in conjunction with the launch of the Community Report.
