SHAH ALAM, Nov 21 – Career fairs in Selangor are attracting job seekers from various states who are keen on securing high-paying positions, said state executive councillor for trade and investment Ng Sze Han.
Ng said the state government has been particularly proactive in creating attractive job opportunities in sectors like life sciences, food and beverage, electrical and electronics, logistics services, and digital economy, as well as other high-impact industries that are key to the state’s economic development.
The Kinrara assemblymen said part of this strategy involves providing job matching and employment to Selangor citizens and the public at large.
“This is why we are focusing on high-impact industries, which can offer high-paying jobs to the people of Selangor.
“In fact, our job fairs have also attracted people from out-of-state who look to secure high-paying opportunities in Selangor,” he said.
The sectors listed by Ng are part of nine high-impact industries laid out in the First Selangor Plan (RS-1), which are designed to accelerate the state’s economic growth.
Ng was responding to a question by Sinjangkang assemblyman Datuk Ahmad Yunus Hairi, who wanted to know the steps taken by the state to attract investment and offer jobs to Selangor citizens following the success of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2023.
The recent summit was the most successful to date, recording a potential transaction value of RM6.12 billion, further solidifying its position as an influential platform for business and investment in the region.
For the record, large-scale career events in the state like the Selangor Mega Job Fair offer up to 10,000 vacancies in key industries.
