SHAH ALAM, Feb 10 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari today urged the public to always strive for and have the courage to achieve success in whatever they set out to do.

This is in line with the ushering in of the Year of the Dragon, he said in a Chinese New Year message posted on social media site X, formerly known as Twitter.

“The new beginning of this Chinese lunar calendar cycle marks the arrival of the Year of the Dragon. According to Chinese tradition, the dragon symbolises strength, honour, success and luck.

“Embracing the spirit of the Year of the Dragon, I hope that we will always be enthusiastic in achieving success and possess the courage of the mighty dragon,” he said today.

Amirudin also noted that the state government has distributed shopping vouchers to less-privileged families  celebrating the festival, to help ease their burden.

“I hope this will bring joy and happiness to this year’s celebration.

Yesterday, in his Chinese New Year message, the Menteri Besar had said that genuine unity among diverse communities is an important foundation towards achieving the country’s economic potential and improving the welfare of its people.

He said the return of the Year of the Wood Dragon in 2024, following a 60-year absence, reflects the symbolism of the Chinese Zodiac to the current stability in the country under the Unity Government.

“The symbolism is timely, where our nation is witnessing heightened strength and stability, serving as the foundation for the prosperity of the people and the nation.

“The genuine Unity Government, unlike others that are simply talk, has proven to uplift the economic potential of the state and the country to improve the people’s quality of life,” he said.
