State authorities send machinery to clear clogged drains in Taman Desa Melor

SHAH ALAM, June 11 — The issue of rainwater overflow onto roads due to strong river flow, which recently caused 16 homes in Taman Desa Melor in Serendah to flood, has been addressed promptly.

Batang Kali state constituency coordinator Saifuddin Shari Muhammad said that a backhoe will be deployed to clear clogged drains in the area to ensure smooth water flow to a nearby river.

Saifuddin said an inspection was conducted with the Mukim Serendah headman, Taman Desa Melor Residents Association, and Hulu Selangor District Land Office Enforcement following complaints received late yesterday afternoon.

“Upon investigation, we found that the rapid flow of Sungai Durian caused the water to overflow onto the road.

“Additionally, the clogged drains could not handle the strong water flow during heavy rain,” he said, adding that the cleaning works would commence as soon as the residents agreed.

Saifuddin said the water overflow issue also stemmed from a nearby stream connected to the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project.

He added that the Mukim Serendah headman would hold urgent discussions with the Hulu Selangor Municipal Council and the Irrigation and Drainage Department to address the situation.
