Selangor commits to digital entrepreneurship development — Sidec

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 — The state government, through the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec), is committed to developing digital entrepreneurship.

This aims to ensure small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) are equipped with the relevant digital skills and tools necessary to thrive in the digital era through the Selangor 1000 Digital initiative.

Sidec said the completion of the fifth and last series of the Selangor 1000 Digital 2024 programme was a huge success for the digitalisation initiative aimed at entrepreneurs, implemented throughout this year.

“With over 2,200 participants in the five series, Selangor 1000 Digital 2024 successfully digitalised entrepreneurs across various sectors by introducing the latest technologies and e-commerce platforms, including TikTok Shop, Shopline, Pos Malaysia, Fiuu, TnG eWallet, Bizapp, Maxis Business and Gofluence, as well as live streaming techniques, as modern marketing tools,” Sidec said in a statement today.

It also noted that participation in each district was encouraging and exceeded initial targets.

The programme, led by Sidec and jointly organised with Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), had Affin Bank as the main sponsor.

It fostered close partnerships with over 20 strategic partners from the digital ecosystem and utilised comprehensive and relevant training modules to support the growth of Selangor entrepreneurs.

The fifth series retained the same format as the four other previous series, with a focus on critical fields including using Tiktok Shop to expand business markets and TnG eWallet for digital business management.

Participants were exposed to a Digital Entrepreneur Inspiration session, where success stories were shared to motivate them, Sidec said.

Due to the overwhelming response, Sidec plans to continue the Selangor 1000 Digital programme in 2025 and expand it to other districts in Selangor.

“This programme will continue to be the main platform to equip Selangor entrepreneurs with digital knowledge to help them face modernisation and contribute to the economic growth in the state,” the corporation said.

The initiative aims to expand the digital transformation of local entrepreneurs by preparing resources, training and support to 500 e-commerce entrepreneurs and 500 live streaming hosts in Selangor.
