SHAH ALAM, Oct 5 — A total of 108 individuals associated with Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holding Sdn Bhd (GISBH), who were detained by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais), will undergo a faith rehabilitation process.
Jais director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad said this decision aligns with the Selangor State Fatwa Committee’s earlier resolution, which expressed satisfaction and confidence that the leaders and members of GISBH, along with its network, still practise Aurad Muhammadiah.
He noted that this belief has been deemed deviant from Islamic faith, according to Gazette No. 54 dated February 4, 1993.
“These 108 individuals have been detained and are on bail for further investigation. We want all those involved, whether guilty or not, to undergo rehabilitation. It is clear what they have done, and the fatwa serves as the basis for our actions.
“The fatwa supports our stance that they must be rehabilitated. Anyone involved must exit their system and enter ours through rehabilitation programmes that will be established later,” he said after the closing ceremony of the Selangor Al-Barzanji and Marhaban Festival at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, here, today.
Shahzihan confirmed that there will be subsequent arrests involving individuals linked to GISBH.
Previously, Shahzihan had said that Jais detained 108 individuals linked to GISBH who are suspected of being involved in various offences related to syariah law, including issues of faith, unauthorised collection of donations, and marriage.
On October 3, the Selangor State Fatwa Committee expressed confidence that the leaders and members of GISBH, along with its network, still practise Aurad Muhammadiah.
In a statement on the Selangor Royal Office’s Facebook page, it said that the grand dhikr promoted by al-Arqam was determined to deviate from Islamic.
He clarified that the beliefs and practices of GISBH exhibit characteristics that deviate from the true teachings of Islam according to the beliefs of the Ahli Sunnah Waljamaah in terms of faith and sharia.
