SHAH ALAM, Oct 11 — The Selangor International Book Fair (SIBF) 2024 will take place from November 27 to December 3 at the Setia City Convention Centre.
Selangor Public Library Corporation director Datin Paduka Mastura Muhamad said they are expecting over 300,000 visitors during the seven-day event.
According to her, a variety of activities will be held, including talks with national laureates, colouring and drawing activities, lucky draws and over 400 featured booths.
“This year’s SIBF will also feature exhibitors, publishers, authors and key players from the book industry representing various countries such as Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
“China has also been invited to participate in this year’s SIBF as a guest country, following a memorandum of understanding signed between PPAS and the Northern China Book Festival on August 16,” she said.
Mastura added that the Selangor Education Summit will also be held during SIBF to strengthen the agenda for technical and vocational education and training (TVET) as well as science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
First launched in 2022, SIBF is a continuation of the Selangor Book Fair, which had been organised for 16 years since 2006.
Last year, the state government also introduced the Selangor Children’s Book Fair held at PKNS Complex, featuring local authors, publishers and booksellers.
