Amirudin vows better quality of service for KKB folk

SHAH ALAM, May 20 — Streamlining the quality of service for Kuala Kubu Baharu folk is among the Unity Government’s targets after it was given the mandate at the by-election on May 11.

Selangor Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) chairman and Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said studies are being done to identify which services should be streamlined to ensure new assemblyman Pang Sock Tao can deliver her best for the people.

“Other matters (a post-mortem) of the by-election haven’t been addressed in detail, but we are scrutinising every figure and data to ensure we give the people our best,” said Amirudin.

Met after a programme at Dewan Raja Muda Musa here, Amirudin said Harapan’s by-election victory was thanks to the Unity Government machinery’s support.

“Umno helped significantly in the by-election and gave support as a machinery, ensuring we achieved the minimum we scored in the last election.

“Support trends are strengthening, especially among Malays, with a 3 to 5 per cent rise,” he said.

The Unity Government defended its Kuala Kubu Baharu seat in the four-cornered contest with a 3,869-vote majority,

Pang garnered 14,000 votes, beating Perikatan Nasional’s Khairul Azhari Saut (10,131 votes). Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Hafizah Zainuddin and Independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin lost their deposits by only receiving 152 and 188 votes, respectively.

Amirudin earlier accepted a Malaysia Book of Records certificate on behalf of the state government in recognition of its achievement in attracting the highest number of kindergarteners in an integrity awareness campaign.

The event, organised by Selangor Menteri Besar (Incorporated), featured colouring activities focused on promoting integrity values, and drew participation from 1,066 children aged three to six.
