SHAH ALAM, May 19 — The Selangor Women’s Welfare and Charity Organisation (Pekawanis) visited over 1,200 homes throughout 2023 to deliver donations to needy groups and individuals.

Its president Datin Seri Masdiana Mohamad said they focused on the homes of targeted groups like the asnaf (tithe recipients) and single mothers. The visits also included the Ziarah Medik programme.

“Pekawanis also provided festive contributions in the form of goods or cash as well as Back To School assistance.

“For Ziarah Medik, it involved all Pekawanis members going to their respective state constituencies to support sick asnaf individuals,” she said during Pekawanis’ Mother’s Day celebration yesterday.

Held at Dewan Jubli Perak of the State Secretariat Building, the event was also attended by the Sultan of Selangor’s sister, Tengku Putri Arafiah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz.

Masdiana added that during this year’s Ramadan fasting month, Pekawanis also carried out the Ihya’ Ramadan programme, involving seven main activities with the participation of various parties, including local residents.

“These included Qu’ran recitation sessions and a grand khatam ceremony attended by the Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, as well as a tour distributing 7,000 bubur lambuk servings in collaboration with Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI,” she said.
