Selangor ICT Fair introduces ‘Smart City’ products

BY: LIZAWATI MADFA
PETALING JAYA, SEP 24: The Selangor ICT Fair is the perfect platform to promote ‘Smart City’ products and services to the rakyat.
Education, Human Capital Development, Science, Technology and Innovation Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said that this was in line with the Smart Selangor vision introduced by the state government.
He said the event, which was held for the first time, could become an annual affair.
“However, we do not want to focus only on urban areas but also rural areas as well.
“This is important to reduce the digital divide between the urban and rural populations,” he said to SelangorKini when officiating the Selangor ICT Fair 2016.
The two day fair, beginning on September 24, took place at Encorp Strand Mall with over 30 booths.
Besides organising partner, Harvey Norman, other exhibitors included Menteri Besar Incorporated, government agencies, local authorities as well as the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.
Nik Nazmi said that the effective implementation and use of ICT would drive a country to greater heights in terms of social, economic and political development.
“As such, the state government prioritises the development of the state alongside the social development of its people.
“We are using Information and Communication Technology as an education tool to face globalisation in the 21st century,” he said.
