Mukhairi’s quality can provide fresh impetus for Selangor FC — Razman

KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 — Former national defender Razman Roslan believes that Muhammad Mukhairi Ajmal Mahadi has the necessary skills to compensate for the absence of key player Muhammad Faisal Abdul Halim for Selangor FC in the new Super League season.

Razman, who also played for Selangor, said Mukhairi should be given the chance to take on the responsibilities left by Faisal to ensure that Nidzam Jamil’s team remain serious contenders in the 2024-2025 Malaysia League (M-League) season.

He is also optimistic that the addition of foreign players, such as Reziq Bani Hani and Alvin Fortez, will enhance the Red Giants’ performance, especially in their first match against Kedah Darul Aman FC today.

“Mukhairi is capable of filling the gap left by Faisal Halim, and his abilities and quality will help balance Selangor FC’s loss. The arrival of new foreign players like Fortez and Reziq will add sharpness to Selangor’s attack.

“I hope Selangor will play with more precision and deliver an exciting game for us to watch,” he told Bernama at the Kita-untuk-Kita (K2K) Futsal Champion Clinic programme at the Sri Selangor Residents Association today.

On May 5, Faisal suffered fourth-degree burns on several parts of his body after being splashed with acid by unknown assailants at a shopping mall in Petaling Jaya, which has severely limited his mobility and speech.

The player, who won the best goal award at the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar in January, is expected to be out of action for five to six months, forcing Selangor FC to withdraw from the Charity Shield match last week.

The Red Giants will make their season debut against Kedah, who defeated PDRM FC 1-0 at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium last week.
