SHAH ALAM, SEP 16: Criticism by certain parties within Umno against United States lawyer Kimberley Motley proves there is a political conspiracy against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The KEADILAN leader’s lawyer, Latheefa Koya said that Sungai Besar Umno Chief Datuk Jamal Yunus is clearly a threat and an attempt to stop Motley from performing her duty as an international legal advisor.
She said that his actions seem to belittle the existing legal system and is a disruption of the judicial process.
“Not only is Anwar imprisoned but it seems like Umno is determined to deny his right to select his own legal counsel.
“The majority of the rakyat and the global community believe that Anwar is innocent of the ridiculous charges,” she said in a statement.
Latheefa said that Umno should be responsible for Jamal’s recent statement.
“This attack proves how desperate Umno is. They cannot pretend that the statement has nothing to do with Umno.
“It also proves that there is a political conspiracy against Anwar,” she added.
