SABAK BERNAM, OCT 22: The Selangor Hijrah Programme (HIJRAH) is expected to expand its benefits to six new target groups, starting next year.
Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Mansor Othman said that six groups that have been identified are single mothers, the asnaf, youth, students, army veterans and women farmers.
He said a special program will be constructed for the groups to gain benefits through the HIJRAH scheme.
“We wanted them to get a bigger boost with the State Government.
“This programme will be discussed and announced soon,” he said to SelangorKini after the opening ceremony of Program Hijrah Tour 2016 (HIT’16) at Sungai Panjang.
Also present was Youth Development, Sports, Cultural and Entrepreneurship Development Exco Amirudin Shari.
Mansor said that almost 30,000 participants received capital aid from HIJRAH with a total of RM144 million.
Meanwhile, Amirudin said HIJRAH’s entrepreneurs should take the opportunity presented and market their product overseas.
He said with the internet, which has no boundaries, should be used as an advantage to entrepreneurs.
“We will help entrepreneurs reach higher levels, so we will emphasise on knowledge.
“Capital was previously important, but now knowledge has become a more vital element for the entrepreneurs to succeed,” he said.
The programme with the Selangor Public Library (PPAS) is believed to produce an educated society and entrepreneurs in the state.
The pioneer programme is a smart partnership between various agencies in line with the ‘Smart State’ concept inspired by Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.
