Selangor land office to replace actor’s land after transfer error

SHAH ALAM, May 9 — The Selangor Land and Mines Office (PTGS) has rectified a land transfer error involving actor Ammar Baharin’s family, which was mistakenly transferred to a third party without their knowledge.

In a statement today, PTGS said it would replace the overlapping land between Ammar’s family and another party within the same area.

PTGS further clarified the incident resulted from a technical error in the manual recording process, which led to the approval of two ownership applications on the same plot of land.

Following an investigation by the Hulu Langat District and Land Office (PDTHL), PTGS discovered a technical error that occurred during the manual charting process into the litho sheet by PDTHL’s technical unit.

“This occurred due to the approval of two group ownership applications by the Selangor State Executive Council in the same area in 1978 and 1995. Consequently, two titles were issued for the same piece of land, as reported by the complainant.

“PDTHL has identified a nearby piece of land to replace the overlapping land. The office will contact the relevant landowners to explain the process of replacing the land plot,” the statement read.

PTGS reminded the public that all land-related matters are now handled through the e-Tanah system, an integrated electronic system managed by the agency since October 26, 2023.

The state land agency advised landowners to regularly update land-related information and conduct personal searches to verify land ownership matters.

“Landowners are also urged not to leave land undeveloped, as any land classified as ‘building’ must have some construction erected within two years of registration.

“Failure to comply may result in the respective district and land office issuing notices to impose fines or revoke land titles,” the statement read.

This development came after Ammar raised concerns about a second title deed issued to another party, prompting him to seek clarification from PTGS.

Yesterday, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari assured the issue had been rectified.

He said previous use of the manual recording system by land administration authorities had led to such errors.
