Java Sea rocked by 6.5 magnitude earthquake

INDONESIA, OCT 19: A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 and depth of 644km happened at 8.25 this morning, at 5.31 South latitude and 107.99 East longitude, in the Java Sea, Indonesia.
The Malaysian Meterological department reported it to be at 149 km Northeast of Bekasi, Indonesia and 750 km Southwest of Tebedu, Sarawak.
According to reports by Tempo.com, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Data, Information and Public Relations Head, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said that there are no casualties or deaths reported as a result of the earthquake.

“So far, there have been no death reported,” he said when contacted by Tempo.com
According to the Agency, the earthquake has no potential to create a tsunami however it was certainly felt at several areas in West Java.
Some areas which also felt the tremble, were Cikarang, Indramayu, Cirebon, Cianjur and other areas.
