LZS to ensure aid fulfils exact needs

BY: NORHAYATI UMOR
SHAH ALAM, OCT 12: The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) is currently using its ‘Task Force’ programme to review the aid sent to asnaf and the poor in Selangor.
LZS Corporate Communications Division Head Norajun Ainun Mohd Hashim said that the programme will identify and review all zakat aid received by the asnaf previously.
He said that this was to ensure that proper aid was provided and fulfilled the needs of a family.
“This programme involves the families of asnaf and the poor. It focuses on asnaf who receive monthly financial aid, rent, Hari Raya benefits and medical care.
“LZS also conducts investigations from house to house with the cooperation of the Penolong Amil Kariah,” he told SelangorKini.
Norajun said that 89 operations have been implemented throughout the state beginning August and will end in November.
On October 11, as many as 68 asnaf and poor families were visited by six Sabak Bernam Distric LZS officers in the Panchang Bedena Mosque and Binjai Jaya Mosque areas.
In addition, a total of 255 asnaf and poor families from Kampung Sijangjang, Kampung Batu 9, and Kampung Batu 10 Baru were involved in the review on October 5 and October 6.
The review will enable them to receive financial aid, food and rent allowance.
Through this programme, zakat will be channelled only to those who qualify.
