BY SYASYA SUFIAN
SHAH ALAM, OCT 28: In an effort to improve the public transport system in Selangor, the Selangor State Government, together with Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) added eight more Selangor Smart Buses, with an allocation of over RM2.5 million.
Investment, Industry and Trade, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Transport Exco Datuk Teng Chang Khim said that the addition includes two routes, and every route utilises four buses.
“The overall cost is RM2,505,840 including 6% GST.
“The bus service on Route Two utilises provisions from the Selangor Transportation Standing Committee with a total of RM1,242,920.
“While Route Three is using MPSJ provisions of the same amount,” he said.

He said this at the launching of the Selangor Smart Bus for the new routes at the Bandar Puchong LRT Station on October 28.
Teng said that since MPSJ contributes to the highest usage of Selangor Smart Bus, the service was expanded to Puchong and Kinrara which includes Route Two and Route Three.
He added that a total of 3.15 million people in Selangor use Selangor Smart Bus on all routes since its launch in July 2015 until September 30 this year.
Out of these, MPSJ was among the most popular area, utilising the free bus service with a record number of 590,000 users.
“MPSJ is an area that has attracted and encouraged many people to use public transportation, especially the Selangor Smart Bus.
“With this success, we are expanding efforts in order to provide comfort besides encouraging the use of public services and reducing the use of private vehicles,” he said.
