Sultan of Selangor urges judiciary body to strengthen integrity

SHAH ALAM, OCT 21: His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has urged judiciary institutions to maintain their integrity and independence in decision-making without being influenced by any party.
He said, judges should make professional decisions based on the constitution and the rule of law, without fear of public opinions or criticism.
“I urge all Selangor Court judges, officers and employees to carry out their duties responsibly, to adopt a customer-friendly attitude and be professional at all times and situations.
“With commitment from all parties, I believe that all cases can be resolved efficiently and in a timely manner.
“Freedom, peace, development and the rule of law can only be upheld and guaranteed when citizens have full confidence in the independence and integrity of the judiciary body,” he said.

He said that when officiating the Klang Court, on October 20.
He was accompanied by Her Royal Highness Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Norashikin and Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.
The Klang Court used to operate in the Chinese Overseas Bank Building and at the Klang General Post Office in Jalan Dato’ Hamzah.
In 1965, the court was moved to the former Residents’ Rest House and was officiated by his father, the late Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah on April 3, in the same year.
At that time, the court had only two rooms for the Sessions Court and Magistrate Court.
Now the court has five Sessions Court and five Magistrate Court in one compound, to facilitate the handling of criminal and civil cases.
It is also equipped with the CRT (Court Recording and Transcription System) which allows users to review video footage and the visual of ongoing proceedings, besides also being equipped with CCTV system from the court’s main lockup and the Route For Accused (OKT).
“I hope that with these sophisticated facilities, court proceedings will run more efficiently and in a timely manner.
“Therefore, the backlog of cases burdening the court previously can be reduced,” he said.
In the meantime, he also called on citizens from all races to strengthen the existing unity for a continuous development in the state besides fully cooperating authorities to prevent crime from spreading.
