LUAS identifying source of pollution in Selisek River

BY SYASYA SUFIAN
SHAH ALAM, NOV 10: Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS) is identifying the cause of water pollution at the Sungai Selisek water treatment plant (WTP) in Hulu Selangor, as there is an increase of ammonia content.
LUAS Acting Director Nor Zamri Sondor said that the Selisek River WTP in Hulu Selangor ceased operations at 9 pm, on November 9. However, it resumed operations at 6 am on November 10.
“The temporary closure was due to an increase in the ammonia parameter and also an odour in the river water.
“However, the plant restarted operations at 6 am this morning,” he said when contacted by SelangorKini.
Zamri said LUAS and the agencies involved are investigating the exact cause of the disruption and will take appropriate action.
He claimed it is likely that the source of the pollution may be from animal farms as the river is located close the agricultural area nearby.
