Selangor Regional Powerhouse Roadmap launched at global smart city event

SHAH ALAM, Nov 20 — Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari had today attended the launch of the Selangor Regional Powerhouse Roadmap at the Smart Selangor Pavillion, which was showcased at the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

Amirudin said he also witnessed the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and exchanging of agreements by three of Selangor government-linked companies (GLCs), the Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU), Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Berhad Waste Management (KDEBWM) and Smartsel Sdn Bhd, at the said event.

“The MoU was carried through with their strategic partners from the United Kingdom, Turkey and the US. This collaboration proves Selangor’s potential in becoming a smart state by 2025.

“Selangor continues to move one step further,” said Amirudin in his tweet.

The Selangor: Regional Powerhouse, which was held on July 23, had showcased the opportunities, potentials and promises for businesses in Selangor.

The state government through Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI) had created a roadmap of regional cooperation and dissemination of information.

Yesterday, Amirudin wrote on Instagram that Selangor was the only state government from Malaysia taking part in the international event.

“Selangor is proud to be the sole state government representative from Malaysia

“It is the manifestation of our burning desire to be a regional smart state by 2025,” he wrote on Instagram.

The Smart City Expo World Congress, which is held from November 19 to 21, was organised to empower cities and collective urban innovation across the world.

The event is dedicated to creating a better future for cities and global citizens through the promotion of social innovation, establishing partnership and identifying business opportunities.

Themed ‘Cities made of Dreams’, the three-day congress was said to be the largest event to date, with an estimated 1,010 exhibiting companies and 700 cities, including Selangor.
