Selangor Regional Powerhouse Roadmap receives international feedback

SHAH ALAM, Nov 27 — The Selangor government, through its strategic investment arm Menteri Besar Selangor Incorporated (MBI Selangor), has received international feedback on the Selangor Regional Powerhouse Roadmap document launched last week.

The document — the result of discussions to realise the state’s aspiration to become a regional economic power — was launched by Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari at the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC), which took place in Barcelona, Spain, from November 19 to 22.

In a statement yesterday, MBI Selangor chief executive officer Raja Shahreen Raja Othman said the launch was held at SCEWC as it was the leading platform that brought together international experts, industry players and various stakeholders who were knowledgeable on cities and future urban development, hence allowing MBI Selangor to obtain feedback and critique from them directly regarding the document.

“We have already received some feedback from other countries, including from governments that can see potential areas of cooperation to be developed through this roadmap,” he said.

The document, which contains 11 smart focus fields and 10 initiatives, offers a blueprint for Selangor to charge further ahead after successfully transforming into a smart state by 2025.

Previously, various forums and discussions had been held with stakeholders in Malaysia to get their views and feedback.

Raja Shahreen said the present challenge was to think out of the box to find solutions for the current and upcoming issues in Selangor.

In line with that, he said, Selangor must focus on developing talent, especially through building up the capabilities of youths in the state.
