SHAH ALAM, March 17 — A ban on interstate travels take effect at midnight and those planning to do so will need clearance from the police, said Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador.

The inspector-general of police said the ban was part of the two-week movement control order, which takes effect from midnight.

“Anyone travelling from one state to another will have to get clearance from the nearest police station,” he told a press conference today.

Last night, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced the Movement Control Order to contain the spread of Covid-19.

The order takes effect on March 18 to 31.
