Covid-19 claims one more Malaysian, death toll now at 20

SUBANG JAYA, March 25 — The Health Ministry has reported another death related to the Covid-19 infection, today.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah on his official Facebook said the patient, case number 780, had passed away this evening.

“The National Crisis Preparedness and Response Center (CPRC) had today received a report of another (1) Covid-19 death (case 780), which brings the total number of deaths to 20.

“Case 780 was a 76-year-old male Malaysian citizen who had attended the tabligh assembly at Jamek Seri Petaling Mosque,” he said in the statement.

Dr Noor Hisham said the deceased was treated at the Sultan Ismail Petra Hospital in Kuala Krai, Kelantan, and was pronounced dead on March 25, 2020, at 4.35 pm.

“Condolences to the family of the deceased,” said Dr Noor Hisham.

As of noon today, 172 new cases had been reported, bringing the total number of positive cases in Malaysia to 1,796.

A total of 16 patients had recovered and been discharged today, raising the number of fully recovered cases to 199 so far.
