Malaysia records third Covid-19 death

SUBANG JAYA, March 20 — The Health Ministry has reported the third Covid-19 related death today.

In a Facebook post, its director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the patient, case number 152, had passed away at 6.27 pm.

“The National Crisis Preparedness and Response Center (CPRC) had today received a report of one Covid-19 death (case 152 ), which brings the total number of deaths to three.

“Case 152 is a 58-year-old Malaysian citizen from the tabligh gathering cluster. The patient was admitted to Tawau Hospital on March 9, 2020, for Severe Acute Respiratory Infection,” he said in the statement.

Dr Noor Hisham said the patient was given respiratory assistance and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on the same day.

“However, the patient’s health had deteriorated day by day and was declared dead on March 20, 2020, at 6.27 pm. Condolences to the family of the deceased,” said Dr Noor Hisham.

As of noon today, a total of 130 new Covid-19 cases were reported as, bringing the cumulative number in the country to 1,030.

A total of 12 patients have recovered and were discharged today. The total number of patients discharged is 87.
