Parliament sitting is on May 18, says Speaker

KUALA LUMPUR, March 4 — The Parliament sitting will be on May 18, instead of March 9 as had been scheduled, said Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof.

Contacted by Bernama today, he confirmed having received the notification on the new date last night.

“The (Dewan Rakyat) Speaker’s Office will issue a media statement soon,” he said in a WhatsApp message to Bernama today.

He confirmed a media report earlier today which stated that there would be no Parliament sitting on March 9.

The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has been scheduled to open the third term meeting of the 14th Parliament this March 9.

However, last Sunday, Mohamad Ariff, when met by reporters, said he would contact newly appointed Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin whether the Parliament sitting would be held as scheduled on March 9.
