Covid-19 daily recovery rate exceed new cases yet again

SHAH ALAM, April 19 — The Covid-19 recovery rate in the country is at 59.3 per cent, with a total of 3,197 recorded recoveries.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said as of noon today, 95 patients have fully recovered from the disease, which is more than the daily cases registered.

The number of new positive Covid-19 cases is 84, pushing the accumulated confirmed cases to 5,389. There are 2,103 total active cases.

“A total of 46 patients are still being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 26 of them require respiratory aid,” he said during the press conference on Covid-19 at the Health Ministry (MOH) in Putrajaya today.

Dr Noor Hisham said one fatality was reported, bringing the death toll to 89, which translated to 1.65 per cent fatality rate.

“The death involved Case 4,769 who was a 51-year-old Malaysian man with a history of high blood pressure, diabetes, kidney and heart disease,” he said.

The victim was a close contact to a positive Covid-19 case (case 2,726) and was treated in Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom in Johor on April 13. He was declared dead yesterday at 6.47pm.
