Covid-19 death toll in Indonesia rises to 181

JAKARTA, April 3 — The total number of Covid-19 deaths in Indonesia have gone up to 181 people since the first fatality was recorded on March 11.

Indonesian government spokesman for Covid-19 matters, Achmad Yuriato said 11 more deaths occurred in the past 24 hours.

“From 12 noon yesterday to 12 noon today, there were 196 new positive infection cases bringing the total to 1,986,” he said in an Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management live Youtube broadcast.

On March 31, Indonesian President Joko Widodo declared a Covid-19 public health emergency with large-scale social restrictions on all community activities in the country to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

Jakarta is the province with the highest death toll with 90 cases followed by West Java (25), Central Java (18) and the remaining cases in other provinces in Indonesia.
