Daily recoveries twice the number of new cases, says Health DG

SHAH ALAM, April 22 — A total of 103 Covid-19 recoveries were registered as of noon today, bringing the total tally to 3,452, or a 62.4 recovery rate.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this is twice the number of daily recorded cases of 50.

The total accumulative tally is at 5,532 with 1,987 active cases.

“A total of 43 patients are still being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 25 of them require respiratory aid,” he told the media today in a broadcasted daily briefing on Covid-19 at the Health Ministry in Putrajaya, today.

Dr Noor Hisham said one fatality was recorded, bringing the death toll in the country to 93, or 1.68 per cent out of the total number of cases.

The reported death involved Case 5,483, a 72-year-old Malaysian woman who had cancer and hypertension.

She was treated at the Sarawak General Hospital on April 20 and was declared dead today at 9.15am.
