Selangor says no to dine-ins, sets several own rules during CMCO

By Ashwin Kumar

SHAH ALAM, May 3 — The Selangor government will not allow dine-in services at restaurants and eateries despite the implementation of the conditional movement control order (CMCO) beginning tomorrow, says Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

The Menteri Besar, however, said the food stalls and businesses will be allowed to operate from 7am to 10pm for take-away and delivery services.

He said those that are without premises, such as roadside stalls and food trucks, will only be allowed to operate after the fourth phase of the MCO ends on May 12.

“This is to allow the local authorities and business owners to prepare for social-distancing measures and contact-tracing procedures to be put in place,” he said in a statement today.

Amirudin said the ban on night markets, morning markets, carnivals and Ramadan and Raya bazaars will still be in place as instructed by the Federal government.

“As for social activities, the public is allowed to exercise outdoors and in community parks but must observe the social distancing rule. However, activities in public parks, such as Tasik Shah Alam, Taman Jaya and Tasik Cempaka, are not allowed.

“All indoor recreational and sports facilities, such as indoor swimming pools and gymnasiums, will still remain closed. Hiking outdoors like in Bukit Gasing is not allowed,” he said, adding that a notice will be issued by the local authorities on the restricted public parks.

Meanwhile, on the construction sector, Amirudin said the state administration will allow operations at maximum capacity but said the developers must provide a detailed Covid-19 Safety Action Plan to the respective local authorities.

Amirudin said the state measures were made following a series of meetings held involving the Selangor National Security Council, Selangor Covid-19 operation centre, Selangor Covid-19 Task Force, city mayors and local councils.

“The measures will be applicable across Selangor except for the red zone in Selayang Baru,” he said.

Amirudin had reminded all sectors to strictly adhere to the health advice provided by the authorities.

He added that the state government will also be announcing a new contact-tracing system tomorrow.

On Friday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced most sectors of the economy will be allowed to operate again under the CMCO starting May 4.

Several other states such as Kedah, Penang, Negeri Sembilan and Sarawak had said that they will not follow the Federal government’s CMCO, saying they do not want to risk the safety and welfare of the people.
