KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 — A total of 230 individuals were arrested for defying the recovery movement control order (RMCO) directives on Monday.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said of the total, 13 have been remanded, while the rest were issued with compounds for involvement in activities where it was almost impossible to maintain physical distancing.
“Over the past 24 hours, the police have also mounted 65 Ops Benteng roadblocks and inspected 27,200 vehicles to contain the influx of illegal immigrants and arrested two on immigration offences,” he said in a statement on the latest development of the RMCO today.
On mandatory quarantine, Ismail Sabri said 9,498 individuals have returned to Malaysia between July 24 and yesterday and were placed at 58 hotels and five Public Training Institutes (ILA) for the 14-day mandatory quarantine.
“Of the total, 20 were taken to hospitals, and 1,896 have been allowed to return home.
“These individuals had returned from 31 countries, including the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Vietnam, Brunei, Qatar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, India, United Arab Emirates, Japan and Iran.
Meanwhile, the minister said the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs had conducted daily monitoring on the supply of 12 items at 757 business premises comprising retailers (562), wholesalers (166) and manufacturers (29).
“The ministry’s enforcement officers had also conducted 1,731 inspections nationwide to ensure RMCO SOP compliance and found 1,684 premises to be in compliance with the SOP, 44 were given advice and three others were given a warning for being non-compliant with the SOP,” he said.
On public sanitisation, he said 13 operations had been mounted in 12 zones (including five yellow zones) in Sabah, Selangor, Pahang, Sarawak, Perlis, Kedah and Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
