Indian citizen killed in Beaufort accident

BEAUFORT, Oct 19 — An Indian citizen was killed after a four-wheel-drive he was traveling in with eight other individuals skidded and overturned in the Lumadan Forest Reserve in Beaufort yesterday.

Beaufort district police chief DSP Azmir Abd Razak identified the victim in the crash that occurred at 1.13 pm as Kusan Anumanthan Kumar, 46, a substation construction worker.

“The incident happened when the driver was believed to have lost control of the wheel while reversing the vehicle, causing it to skid to the right side of the road and overturned,” he said in a statement here, today.

He said the victim who was seated at the back of the vehicle suffered severe neck injury and was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical personnel.

The driver and seven other passengers only sustained minor injuries and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, he added.
