SHAH ALAM, Nov 16 — The Top Glove workers’ dormitory in Klang will be enforced under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) effective from tomorrow until November 30.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the targetted lockdown would involve 13,190 workers as well as almost 1,200 residents residing in the areas placed under the EMCO.
He said the areas affected include the male workers’ dormitory and Jalan Abadi 1A/ KU8, the female workers’ dormitory as well as Jalan Abadi 1A and Jalan Abadi 10A/KU8.
“The EMCO would enable the Health Ministry to carry out mass screenings for the workers and the residents in the area.
“Since the factory is still operating, Top Glove had been asked to screen its factory workers and those staying in the dormitories,” he said at a press conference broadcasted live today.
Ismail said as of November 15, the accumulative number of Covid-19 cases recorded in the area is at 215, with 214 to have been linked to the Teratai Cluster.
As of yesterday, 579 swab tests have been taken from the cluster.
