300 KDEBWM employees receive first dose of vaccine

SHAH ALAM, 28 June — A total of 300 KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) employees and its subsidiary, Hebat Abadi Sdn Bhd, have received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine via the Selangor Covid-19 Vaccination Programme (SCVP) yesterday.

Its managing director Ramli Mohd Tahir said the initiative was taken after taking into consideration that the employees are among the high-risk groups due to their nature of work that requires them to be on the field.

“They are exposed to the risk of getting infected as they work outside for 365 days to monitor and collect garbage in industrial areas, markets, commercial and housing areas as well as hospitals.

“Therefore, I don’t want to take any risks, we need to protect them and today (yesterday), almost 85 per cent of the employees were vaccinated,” he said when met at the Evo Mall Bangi vaccination centre (PPV).

Ramli had also thanked Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari for providing such an initiative that helps to expedite herd immunity.

He urged all employers in private companies or industrial sectors to get their employees vaccinated so that they would be protected.

“I advise the private sector to participate in the initiative. It may not be able to fully protect us from the virus, however, the effort to ensure all the employees get vaccinated is there.

“Although we have received two doses of vaccine, we must still observe the standard operation procedure (SOP),” he said.
