Another 3,000 Mentari Court residents to be vaccinated today

SHAH ALAM, July 6 — Another 3,000 residents at Mentari Court in PJS 8, Petaling Jaya, are scheduled to receive their Covid-19 vaccine today.

The process to inoculate 9,000 residents in the area with the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine is expected to complete on Thursday, says Petaling district officer Dato’ Johary Anuar.

“We expect to vaccinate around 3,000 residents daily, and the process will end this Thursday with over 9,000 residents involved in the programme,” he said to SelangorKini when contacted.

He explained that a total of 996 residents were vaccinated yesterday. However, the number was lower than the initial target of 1,553 residents due to technical issues, which will be resolved today.

“The programme is well received by the residents, with some of them excitedly looking forward to their turn,” he said.

Meanwhile, Johary said the residents who are Covid-19 positive will still receive their vaccines once they have recovered from the virus.

“As of now, from 2,378 individuals who have been screened, 254 were tested positive…if we manage to screen all the residents here, we expect the number will increase to around 500 positive cases.

“These people will not get their vaccine here at Mentari Court (through the vaccination programme) but will be on the list like other people out there,” he said.

Mentari Court residents are the first group in the state to receive their vaccines under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).

Thirty-four sub-districts in eight Selangor districts are placed under the EMCO for 14 days from July 3.

The period will be extended if the Covid-19 outbreak is still not under control.
