By Norrasyidah Arshad

PETALING JAYA, July 1 — Residents in Mentari Court, PJS 8, here, will be vaccinated this week after the area was placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).

This is the first locality in Selangor that is placed under the EMCO where its residents will be receiving the vaccine.

Petaling district officer Datuk Johary Anuar said the inoculation process will start on Sunday after all the residents in the area, including foreigners, have undergone Covid-19 screening.

According to Johary, the initiative was taken to curb the spread of the infection as well as to protect the community within the area.

“The state government and Selangor State Health Department have agreed to vaccinate the residents in the area as well as their close contacts who tested negative for Covid-19. This is one of the methods to expedite the vaccination delivery rate in the state.

“The residents who have received their appointment dates (via MySejahtera) can cancel the appointment. We will vaccinate all the residents here. However, the type of vaccine, either Pfizer or Sinovac, have yet to be determined,” he said when met at Mentari Court, here today.

Starting from today, Mentari Court is placed under the EMCO for 14 days following the high infection rate identified in the area.

The EMCO was also imposed at Taman Perumahan SS 91A, Sungai Way and Pangsapuri Westlite – PKNS.
