Over 5,000 Mentari Court residents screened, 127 tested Covid-19 positive

PETALING JAYA, July 5 — A total of 5,797 residents at Mentari Court in PJS 8, here, which was placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from July 1, have been screened for Covid-19.

Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said as of yesterday, from the total number, 127 individuals were confirmed positive.

“The screening was carried out by the Petaling District Health Office (PKD). Based on the positive trend that we observed, we expect that almost 500 residents will be tested positive if all of the 9,000 residents were screened.

“We will do our best to trace any residents which have yet to be tested,” he said during a press conference at Mentari Court, today.

Earlier, Amirudin had visited the first vaccination programme held at the location. A total of 1,553 residents have been vaccinated during the programme.

The residents are the first group of people in the state to have received the Covid-19 vaccine while placed under the EMCO. The effort was done through the initiative of the Petaling PKD.
