SHAH ALAM, Nov 18 — The 2022 Selangor Budget will make boosting economic activities affected by the Covid-19 pandemic one of its main focuses, when it is tabled on November 26.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said several steps are being taken to expedite the sector’s recovery process, so as to offset the loss of revenue experienced in 2020 and this year.
“We will prepare formulas and recipies to boost the economy more rapidly, so the losses in 2020 and this year can be handled better,” he said in an exclusive interview yesterday.
Similarly Amirudin will also announce several strategies to prepare the state government administration to be more ready in dealing with pandemics and economic crises, in the future.
He added the 2022 Selangor Budget also emphasises education, despite the state government not having full power in the sector, following the major impact of the pandemic on education.
“Although it is not fully under the state government’s jurisdiction, but education should also be given focus since it involves future generations,” Amirudin said.
The budget’s contents have been analysed for a long period of time, and takes into account the views of various parties, to ensure it can have a positive impact on the people.
“The 2022 budget was not formed in a day or two. This year alone we had five or six sessions involving state assemblymen, officers, and departments.
“The closer we get to Budget day, the more frequent our checks and arrangements. This way we can be more prepared,” he said.
