SHAH ALAM, Nov 22 — Focus should be given to aiding halal industry entrepeneurs in the 2022 Selangor Budget, who have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, said state executive councillor for consumer affairs and halal industry Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni.

He said it is hoped that efforts can be given to strengthen the entrepeneurs.

“Additionally the budget this time can emphasise on the people’s economic ecosystem, to ensure everything returns smoothly to normal, after having faced the movement control order.

“I also hope more education programmes will be created, as that sector has faced many delays, and for assistance to students’ education,” Zawawi when met at the Kedai Harga Patut Awards handover programme today.

The Sungai Kandis assemblyman added he also hopes the Peduli Rakyat initiative, which offers 33 amenities to Selangorians, can be retained.

“Assistance programmes such as these should hopefully be established, especially for the benefit of lower-income groups,” he said.

Two premises in the district, namely the MRKB Book Store in Seksyen 19 and Pusat Pakaian Hari-Hari Ole-Ole in Seksyen 18, were recognised by the awards, organised by the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry Selangor.

The 2022 Selangor Budget is scheduled to be tabled by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari this Friday (November 26)

The tabling can be followed live on social media at https://www.facebook.com/MediaSelangor

Earlier on October 8, Amirudin said in a budget briefing that all state assemblymen and community leaders were involved in its preparation.

The briefing also included the participation of state opposition and independent representatives, in the discussion to formulate a more constructive budget for the benefit of the people.
