By Nasuha Badrul Huzaini

SHAH ALAM, Dec 22 — Water supply recovery in affected areas in Petaling, Hulu Langat, and Kuala Lumpur has reached 90 per cent as of 12 noon, today.

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) in a statement said restoration of water supply in Petaling has reached 100 per cent, while in Hulu Langat it is at 90 per cent and Kuala Lumpur at 89 per cent.

It stated that operations of the Semenyih 2 water treatment plant (WTP) had fully commenced and water supply is fully restored in the 70 areas affected by the plant’s forced shutdown.

“As for Sungai Langat WTP and Langat 2 WTP, the operations have fully resumed and water supply for the areas affected is expected to recover at 11pm tonight.

“Meanwhile for Cheras Batu 11 WTP, repair works are being implemented and currently it is in the final stages before the plant can resume operations,” said Air Selangor.

Consumers can obtain the list of affected areas from the https://hentitugas.airselangor.com/ website as well as the Air Selangor mobile app.

In the meantime, Air Selangor will continue to provide alternative assistance by mobilising water tankers to the affected areas, with priority given to critical premises during the unscheduled water supply disruption.

“Air Selangor is seeking the consumers’ cooperation to practise social distancing and wear face masks while collecting the water supply from the water tankers.

“We will provide updates progressively from time to time through all mediums, especially the mass media.”
