MBSA adds another bulk garbage station to expedite flood waste removal

By Siti Rohaizah Zainal

SHAH ALAM, Jan 6 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has added another temporary transfer station (TS) for bulk garbage in Section 35 (Alam Impian) to expedite its post-flood cleaning work.

The TS under MBSA cover Section 21, Section 35, Section 34, Section 29, Section 28 and Section 25, said deputy mayor Mohd Rashidi Ruslan.

He explained that bulk waste from the flood-affected areas is transferred at the TS before being taken to the landfills in Kuala Langat and Jeram.

“We estimate the additional station can increase the collection by 3,000 tonnes. The TS help facilitate the movement of lorries from flood-affected localities and reduce the travelling time,’ he said.

He said this after inspecting the post-flood cleanup operation in Taman Sri Muda yesterday.

Mohd Rashidi added that RM5 million has been allocated to carry out the cleanup work.

“RM3.5 million is from MBSA while the rest from the state government,” he said.

Dozens of TS have been opened so far to expedite post-flood cleanup work in four local councils (PBT).

Apart from MBSA, Kajang Municipal Council, Sepang Municipal Council and Subang Jaya City Council have also opened their own TS.
