Post-floods: 800 flood-affected families receive financial aid

By Sheeda Fathil

SHAH ALAM, Jan 6 — A total of 800 families affected by the flood in Kampung Lombong received the RM1,000 cash aid under the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit (BSB) programme.

Sungai Kandis assemblyman Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni said the recipients also received an additional RM1,000 in cash aid from the Federal government, under the Bantuan Wang Ihsan programme.

“Over 1,000 families in Kampung Lombong were affected by the disaster…to those who have yet to receive the assistance, please be patient as the reviewing process could take some time and is being conducted in stages.

“We hope the assistance provided by the state and Federal governments can ease victims’ burden, as we know this area was among the badly-hit locations during the flooding incident last month,” he said.

Mohd Zawawi was met after handing over the donation to flood victims at Dewan MPKK Kampung Lombong earlier today.

On December 21, the Selangor government allocated RM100 million in funds under the BSB programme, following the flood incident in several districts at the end of last year.

Apart from infrastructural recovery, the initiative also covers cash aid of RM10,000 to the families of flood victims who perished in the incident. The RM1,000 cash aid will be distributed to the heads of families to help restore their homes and cover damages.

Eligible recipients include flood victims who were relocated to the registered PPS, private PPS, and those who chose to remain with their homes.

The distribution began on December 28 and is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
