BANGI, Feb 14 — A total of 442 archers took part in the National Circuit Archery Championship Series 1/2022 which was held from Tuesday until yesterday at the Stadium Majlis Perbandaran Kajang (MPKj) near here.

Selangor Archery Association president and organiser of the event Datuk Rosli Atan said the 18 associations from all over the country participated in the championship which is a platform to identify new talents to represent Malaysia.

“This is the first series of the championship and Selangor was the host. After this, it will be held in Johor and Sabah to select the best athletes in this event.

“Those identified as champions and have high potentials will represent the country in prestigious sporting events such the SEA Games and Asia Games,” he said.

He said the competition went smoothly despite being held under strict standard operating procedures (SOPs) due to the rising cases of Covid-19.

“We have established a committee to monitor SOPs compliance especially on the wearing of face masks and maintaining social distancing. The event was also held without the presence of spectators.

“Thank you MPKj for providing a strategic location with excellent facilities and amenities. It helps in the smooth organisation of the championship,” he said.

The tournament was sponsored by Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI, Elda Archery and Al Fadzil Agency.
