Selangor to host international halal convention in March

KAJANG, Feb 8 — The state government will be hosting the Selangor International Halal Convention (Selhac) at the Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC) here from March 4 to 6.

State executive councillor for halal industry Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni said the programme will see participation by industry players from local and overseas.

“This is a significant programme for Muslims in Selangor and throughout Malaysia because citizens in a Muslim-majority country needs to know the concept of halal and haram.

“Therefore, I invite all Malaysians to attend the conference to gain various knowledge on halal and haram,” he said.

He said this after officiating the Selangor Halal Industry Forum 2.0 at Kolej Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Selangor (Kuis) here today. Also present was Kuis rector Associate Prof Dato’ Dr Mohd Farid Ravi Abdullah.

Mohd Fakhrulrazi said the forum held at Kuis was one of the initiatives to promote Selhac besides raising awareness among university students on halal issues.

“Insya Allah (God willing) after Kuis we will visit other places to promote Selhac and expand the halal industry network in Selangor,” he said.

The Selangor Halal Industry Forum 2.0 titled ‘Human Resource Development and Innovation’ featured three panels.

They comprised of Malaysia Halal expert Mohd Amri Abdullah, Kuis Bachelor of Management (Halal Industry) Programme head Mohd Fadhli Ab Rahman and Mamee Double Decker (M) Sdn Bhd Islamic Affairs and Government Relations director Ahmad Syukry Ibrahim.
