The agency on Facebook had forecasted similar situations to happen in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and several districts within Perak (Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim).

Similar bad weather is also expected in Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Temerloh and Bera) and Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Port Dickson, Kuala Pilah and Rembau).

The heavy downpour since earlier in the afternoon today had caused flash floods that inundated several areas in Selangor and the city centre.

“The warning is issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm/hour or is expected to take place for over an hour.

“Thunderstorms warning is a short-term warning which is valid within six hours after it is issued,” the statement read, issued at 10pm today.
